Teenage Pregnancy Project 2019

Teenage pregnancy 2019 is a girl’s project organized by Help Initiative in collaboration with Zonta International Club in commemoration of their centennial anniversary celebration. This project is aimed in empowering pregnant teenagers or teenage mothers in the suburb of Ibadan with sustainable skills and life skills to make them self reliant and sending them forth to their different communities as advocate against girl child abuse.

The flag off event was held 20th of Sept 2019 which majorly focused on advocacy, we had facilitators who taught on the Importance of Education, Sex Education/ Teenage Pregnancy and Gender Equality.

Furthermore, “Vocation Skill Acquisition” commenced on the 23rd of November 2019, class held respectively within November to January 2020.

Skills acquired include:
• Soap making
• Hair dressing
• Fashion design
• Confectionaries

The grand finale/exhibition and empowerment session held on the 12th of March, 2020.

Total number of 16 girls were trained and 11 eligible teenage mothers were empowered with equipment to start up their own business as regard the skills they’ve acquired In order to generate income.

Certificate of participation was awarded to each beneficiary while certificate of recognition was given to each trainer.
